Obituary for Jeffery Carl "Dodie" Hammonds

Mr. Jeffery Carl Hammonds, “Dodie”, age 58, of Glen Burnie, MD and formerly of Cedartown, GA passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2017 following a lengthy illness.

He was born in Cedartown, Georgia on February 19, 1959, the son of Darrell Hammonds and Mary Kathryn Haynes Smith.

Dodie was an electrician by trade having worked for Lockheed Martin before moving to Maryland. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles, or just being outdoors.

He was preceded in death by his father Darrell Hammonds and step-father Charles Smith.

He is survived by his mother Mary Kathryn Smith; daughters: Wendy Hammonds and Nicole Hammonds; brother, Chuck Smith; uncle, James Haynes; aunts, Louis Ayers and Janice Fortune; his special friend in Maryland, Diane Miller. Several Nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of the Smith & Miller Funeral Home with Rev. Blake Dodd officiating. Interment will follow in the Northview Cemetery with the Honor Guard of Brewster-Cleveland Post # 86 of the American Legion in charge of military graveside rites.

Pallbearers will include: Jamie Donaldson, David Haynes, Brian Haynes, James Haynes, Chuck Smith and Ricky Aryes, Jr..

The family will receive friends Tuesday afternoon from 12 noon until the funeral hour at the funeral home.
