Mrs. Dorothy “Dot” Lipham Garrett, age 98, of Cedartown, GA, passed away on Friday, March 19, 2021. She was born on February 14, 1923 in Summerville, GA to her late parents, Grady Lipham and Pearl Baggett Lipham. Dot was retired from Goodyear where she worked as a spinner. Mrs. Garrett was a long time faithful and dedicated member of Bellveiw Baptist Church. She loved to work in her garden and yard, never leaving a weed or leaf. She enjoyed cooking, baking, playing a sneaky game of checkers, watching Braves Baseball and old school wrestling. She would always brighten up in the presence of her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Albert Garrett, Jr.; daughter, Sandra Jane Nichols; sons in law, Derry Nichols and Winston Cook; two brothers and two sisters.

Mrs. Garrett is survived by her loving daughter, Brenda Cook, grandchildren, Brad & Kelley Cook, Paula & Ryan Remsen, Shane & Ashley Nichols, and Jennifer & Doug Racine; 11 great-grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren; sister, Gladys Garrett; sister in law, Ella Collins. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Garrett will be held on Monday, March 22, 2021 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Smith & Miller Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Purser officiating. Interment will follow at Polk Memory Gardens.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Shane Nichols, Brad Cook, Doug Racine, Ryan Remsen, Drew Vann, and Austin Vann. Honorary pallbearers will be Cristin Herman, Lauren McCauley, Maggie Stephen, Garrett Filetti, Georgianna McCauley, Gabby Racine, Whitnee Nichols, Lyla Remsen, and Carter Vann.

The family will receive friends Monday, March 22, 2021 from 11:00 PM until the service begins at 1:00 PM.

For those that will not be able to attend the service in person, the funeral home will be live streaming the funeral on the Facebook page of Smith & Miller Funeral Home.

Everyone is ask to follow social distancing guidelines and the use of a mask is recommended.
