Earlene Drummond Astin

December 24, 1932 — February 10, 2018

Mrs. Earlene Astin, age 85, of Cedartown passed away on Saturday, February 10, 2018 after an extended illness.

She was born on December 24, 1932 in Cedartown to the late Mr. Earnest “J.E.” Drummond & Mrs. Hattie Howard Drummond. Mrs. Astin served our community for 50 years while working at Polk General Hospital as a LPN. She also worked for Dr. McGehee and Dr. Blanchard during her time as a nurse. She was a dedicated wife and mother who always put her family first. Her hobbies included spending time in the garden, taking care of her roses, crocheting and was a member of Southside Baptist Church for over 24 years where she loved to sing in the choir.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Henry Astin; twin brother, Eugene Drummond and brother, Clarence Drummond.

Mrs. Astin is survived by her children, Danny and wife Kay Astin, Anita and husband Keith Jones and Phil and wife Paula Astin; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; brother, Earl Drummond; sisters, Elizabeth Brantley and Evelyn Brown. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

The funeral service for Mrs. Earlene Astin will be held Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Smith & Miller Funeral Home with Rev. Doyle Kelley officiating. Interment will follow in Oakgrove Cemetery with Rev. Chris Hearne officiating.

Pallbearers will include her grandsons: Eric Astin, Alan Astin, Jeremy Jones, Deric Jones, Zach Jones, Cory Jones and Jonathan Astin.

The family will receive friends Monday evening, February 12, 2018 from 6-8 PM at Smith & Miller Funeral Home.
