Jimmy Ted "J.T." Lewis

Mr. Jimmy Ted “JT” Lewis, age 85, of Cedartown, passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2022.


Mr. Lewis was born November 1, 1937, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi to the late James and Marjorie Wilcock Lewis.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Lewis was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Becky Lewis and his son, Patrick Lewis.


At a young age, J.T. knew the importance of working hard and always giving your best. He was a graduate of Jacksonville University, where he played on the football team as a fullback. He started his career as a Certified Public Accountant before he, along with others, co-owned Cedartown Paper Board for many years. He later retired from the paper industry at the age of 55, then became the owner of The Golf Shop in Rome. He decided it was time to retire again, spending more time playing golf with his friends and enjoying more cruises with his wife. He was a praying man that loved to read his Bible and spend time with his grandchildren, whom he was adored.


He is survived by his daughter, Pam Graves and her husband, Chuck; Grandchildren: Kelsei Poulin and her husband, Bobby, Emily Graves, Jeremiah Graves, and Dave Brock; Greatgrandchildren: Presley Poulin, Tanner Graves, and Dvyn Brock; and nephews, Jason Gossett and wife, Amanda and Michael Gossett and his wife, Annie also survive.


Services to celebrate his life will be held Friday, December 2, 2022, at 4:00 PM in the chapel of Smith & Miller Funeral Home with Pastor Danny Rhodes and Pastor Chuck Graves officiating.


The family will receive friends Friday December2, 2022, from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at Smith & Miller Funeral Home.
