Joanne Hayes

Mrs. JoAnne Hayes, age 89, of Cedartown passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2022.

Mrs. Hayes was born May 22, 1933, a daughter of her late parents, James Joseph “J.J.” Lassiter and Ione Connell Lassiter. She was a long-time dedicated member of Benedict Baptist Church, serving in any capacity needed. She had retired from Arrow Shirt Company with over 30 years of service. She then decided to return to work at Cherokee Elementary School in the lunchroom, where she worked until she turned 80 years old. Her hobbies included sewing, working in the flower garden, and making candy and cakes for everyone to enjoy.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hayes was preceded in death by her daughter, Teresa Hayes Lasher.

Mrs. Hayes is survived by her daughter, Linda Galloway and her husband, Charles; granddaughter, Tressie Napieracz and her husband, Frank; grandson, Ricky Jordan; nephew, Brian Dill and his wife, Beth; niece, Wendy Dill and her companion, Rusty Splawn; sister, Bess Hall and her husband, Dub. Several other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. JoAnne Hayes will be held Saturday, August 13, 2022, at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Smith & Miller Funeral Home with Brother Chris Truett and Rev. Terry Sims officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday evening, August 12, 2022, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Smith & Miller Funeral Home.

Family and friends are invited to attend a reception at Benedict Baptist Church after the services conclude on Saturday, August 13, 2022.
