Martin Leonard "Len" Buffington

Mr. Martin Leonard “Len” Buffington, age 71, of Cedartown, GA passed away Friday, December 18, 2020 in a Rome medical center.

He was born in Rome, GA on March 2, 1949 a son of the late James Buffington and the late Rebecca Hampton Buffington. Mr. Buffington had lived the greater part of his life in Cedartown where he was a member of the World View Baptist Church. He enjoyed carpentry, working on his classic car and riding motorcycles. Mr. Buffington had worked for over thirty years for ITT Automotive in Rome. He was a veteran of the United States Army.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Buffington.

Survivors include his wife, Karen Gregory Buffington of Cedartown to whom he was married on December 15, 1972; two daughters: Michelle Christian, Rome and Jennifer Hall and her husband Timmy of Cave Spring; one grandson, Tyler Hall, Cave Spring; a sister, Joyce Freeman, Troy, AL and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday, December 21. 2020 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of the Smith & Miller Funeral Home with Rev. Doyle Kelley officiating and a prayer by Brother Kevin Patterson. Interment will follow in the Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery of Tallapoosa.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Timmy Hall, William Anderson, Don Turner, John Hartley, Heath Morrison, and Caraig Morrison. His grandson, Tyler Hall will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

The family will receive friends Monday from 12 noon until the service hour at the funeral home. Social distancing guidelines will be followed and mask will be recommended.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial gifts be made in Mr. Buffingtons’ memory to the World View Baptist Church Building Fund, 500 N. College St., Cedartown, GA 30125.
