Mary Jo Burns West

Mrs. Mary Jo Burns West, age 85, of Cedartown passed away Thursday, January 2, 2020.

She was born in Lindale, Georgia on November 21, 1934, a daughter of the late Bill and Ethel Ledford Burns. She was a member of Lake Creek Baptist Church and in the past she was always active helping with Christmas play’s and Vacation Bible School. She loved to work in the yard and her flower garden.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Jimmy West; son, Tim West; granddaughter, Hannah Ingram and sister, Sherry Williams.

Survivors include daughters and sons in law, Shelia & Thomas Ingram and Lynn & Lester Peek, Jr.; grandchildren, Amy & Mark McCowan, Heather & Michael Blackmon, Trevor & Kasha Peek, Tyler Peek, Todd & Misty Peek, and Trey & Sherry Peek; great-grandchildren, Morgan Peek, Kimberly Peek, Reagan Peek, Sydney Garrett, Haley Brame,, and Maria Peek; great-great granddaughter, Hannah Peek; brothers, Sonny Burns,Terry Burns, and Kenny Burns; sister, Glenda (Sweet Pea) Rogers; brothers in law, Clyde Williams and Jerry West; sisters in law, Nancy Dodgens and Hellen Molock. Several Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

The funeral service to celebrate the life of Mrs. West will be held Sunday, January 5, 2020 at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Smith & Miller Funeral Home with Rev. Owen “Bud” Davis and Rev. Billy Blair officiating. Mrs. Heather Blackmon will be delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 5, 2020 from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Smith & Miller Funeral Home.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Todd Williams, Phillip Williams, Jeff Burns, Tyler Peek, Trevor Peek, and Todd Peek.
