O.T. Martin

Mr. O.T. Martin, age 70 of Cedartown passed away Friday, November 19, 2021.

Mr. Martin was born on November 19, 1951 in Conway, South Carolina to his late parents, Lee and Marie Johnson Martin. O.T. was a US Marine and served our country for 20 years and retired as a Gunnery Sergeant. He was a devoted servant to God, Family, and Country. He was a loving husband, father, and “PowPow” to his family. He served as a Deacon at Myrtle Beach Church of Christ for over 20 years, taking care of the church facilities. He would never say “No” to anyone needing assistance. He was a scholar of the Old Testament and instilled God into his family. He loved to hunt, fish, watch sports on TV, and was an avid golfer.

In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his siblings: JimLee Martin, John Martin, Johnathan Martin and Myrle Hooks.

Mr. Martin is survived by his wife of 43 years, Lavenia Bridges Martin; children, Ernie Maiwald and his wife Melissa, Nathan Maiwald and his wife Tabitha, Joseph Martin, and Jennifer Wirtz and her husband Bryan; 8 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; brothers, Dan and Arthur Martin; sister, Teresa Siratt. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

Service to celebrate his life will be held Friday, November 26, 2021 at 11:00 AM in the sanctuary of Cedartown Church of Christ with Minister Ed Lee and Minster Ernie Maiwald officiating. His inurnment service will be held at a later date at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia.
