Shirley Ann Blankenship

July 25, 1938 — August 9, 2020

Mrs. Shirley Blankenship, also known as, “Gran”, age 82, of Rockmart and formerly of Cedartown, passed away Sunday, August 9, 2020.

Shirley was born in Cedartown, Georgia on July 25, 1938 to Robert Blake and Delia Adams Blake. She loved spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and her great-great grandchild. She was always ready and willing to take a trip to the beach. Shirley definitely enjoyed spending time with her friends and a good opportunity to go dancing. She would always have a good time wherever she would go and before she went anywhere, she made sure she had her lipstick.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Earl Blankenship; sisters, Janie Jacobs, Audrey “Boots” Tudor, Mary “Maxine” Nichols, and Betty Weaver and her brother, Buck Blake.

Shirley is survived by her children, Mike and Zandra Blankenship, Amanda and David Compton, Rena Smith, and Tina Blankenship; grandchildren, Duane Pullen(Tyson Coyler) Corey Smith(Brittany), Shae Lipham (Corey), Kara Smith, Jacob Johnson (De’Ja), Crissie Johnson Trussell and Eric Trussell, and Amy Johnson(Chaz); great grandchildren, Alexa Howell, Justin Smith, Natalie Taylor, Bailey Trussell, Tanner Trussell, Caroline Lipham, Grady Lipham, Isaac Smith, Maddie Smith, Carter Smith, and Princeton Smith; great-great grandchild, Rhett Smith; sisters in law, Jeanette Carnes, Joanne Sanders, Marie Blankenship, and Grace Blake. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

Graveside services for Mrs. Shirley Blankenship will be held Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at 10:00 AM at Northview Cemetery with Rev. Corey Smith officiating and Mr. Andrew Roper delivering the eulogy. Social distancing guidelines will apply and masks are recommended.

The following will serve as pallbearers: Duane Pullen, Tyson Coyler, Jacob Johnson, Eric Trussell, Corey Lipham, and Corey Smith.

The family has requested that those who wish to send flowers, please send only cemetery flowers.
