Mr. Arthur “Red” Floyd Hudgins, 80, of Polk County, Georgia, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Hudgins was born July 5, 1945, in Cedartown, Georgia, son of the late Tom Hudgins and Mary Elizabeth Allen Hudgins.
Mr. Hudgins faithfully served the Georgia Forestry Commission for over 30 years. He was a beekeeper for most of his life and found great joy in fishing, gardening, flowers, and spending time outdoors. He especially treasured time spent with his children and grandchildren, who brought endless joy to his life.
A devoted husband for 59 wonderful years, he was a loving father, the very best Pawpaw, and a faithful friend to many. Of the Baptist faith, he served as a deacon and active member of Friendly Baptist Church, where he faithfully lived out his love for the Lord and others. Above all, he will be remembered as a wonderful husband, daddy, and Pawpaw whose life was marked by kindness, faith, and deep love for his family.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hudgins is preceded in death by brothers: Johnny Hudgins, David Hudgins, Dewey Hudgins, Ellis Hudgins, and Thomas Hudgins; sisters: Plumar Dabbs, Shirley Williams, Mary Lou Youngblood, and Lillie Mae Hudgins Ledford.
Mr. Hudgins is survived by his beloved wife of fifty-nine years, Mrs. Shirley Ann Shaw Hudgins; son, Frankie Hudgins (Karie); daughters: Lisa Ann Welchel (Brian), Tammy Michelle Ridgeway (Hal), and Marlena Renee Cromer (William); grandchildren: Brian Green, April Green, Jessie Hudgins, Jake Hudgins, Dakota Hudgins, Trace Hudgins, Kirsten Hudgins, Brandon Campbell, Chris Campbell, Cody Cromer, and Johnathan Cromer; and step-sister, Glenda Martin.
Funeral services to honor his life will be held Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at 4:00 PM, in the chapel of Smith & Miller Funeral Home, with Reverend Randy Vines officiating.
Mr. Hudgins’ family will receive friends on Tuesday at the funeral home, from 2:00 PM until the service begins.
Interment will follow in Northview Cemetery.
The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Jessie Hudgins, Jake Hudgins, Chris Campbell, Brandon Campbell, Cody Cromer, and Brian Green.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Trace Hudgins, Dakota Hudgins, and Johnathan Cromer.
The family kindly accepts flowers, or you may plant a tree in his memory.
