Obituary

Mr. Chad Lewis, 50, of Cedartown, passed away on March 26, 2026.

He was born June 11, 1975, in Rome, Georgia.

Chad was a kind-hearted son, father, brother, and friend to those he loved.

Chad was a hard worker who spent many years working as a welder at Steel King in Rome alongside his father. Later, he earned a degree in electrical engineering from Gadsden State and spent the rest of his career as an electrician.

When he wasn’t working, Chad felt most at peace outdoors—whether he was deer hunting, fishing, or lifting weights. Chad also had a passion for big trucks. He enjoyed tearing them apart and rebuilding them from an early age. He could fix anything that had moving parts.

More than anything, Chad loved his family. That was at the center of who he was, and it’s how he’ll always be remembered.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, L.C. “Tony” and Pauline Williams, and his paternal grandparents, Herbert “Shorty” and Dixie Lewis.

Chad leaves behind the ones he loved most—his children: Payton Smith (Jesse), Dylan Lewis (Bethany), Morgan Wallace (Kelvin), and Elyssa Lewis. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Gatlin Smith, Avery Lewis, and Drew Wallace.

Chad was the beloved son of Terry and Carolyn Williams Lewis of Cedartown. He is also survived by his siblings: Toni Davis (Ken), Rodney McCown (Jennifer), John McCown, Terri-Leigh Lewis (Adam Peay), Jennifer Lewis Lane (Jonathan), and Chase Lewis Peoples (Shaun), along with many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

In keeping with his wishes, Chad will be cremated. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held Monday, March 30, 2026, at 4:00 PM, at Smith & Miller Funeral Home, with Brother Barry Rogers, Jr. officiating and eulogies being shared by Chad’s family members.

Chad’s family will receive friends, also on Monday at Smith & Miller Funeral Home, from 3:00 PM until the service hour.

The Smith & Miller Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mr. Chad Lewis.
