Infant Dakota Garrett, Jr.

December 25, 2023 — April 3, 2024

Infant Dakota Garrett, Jr., passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2024.

Dakota was born on Christmas day of 2023, a perfect miracle baby. He had a beautiful smile and his eyes were always shining. From the day he was born, baby Dakota wore a little smirk. He would often greet you with a “mean mug” that only grew more prominent as he grew. He was a perfectly content baby, until he was hungry or wearing socks. He made sure to let everyone know when he was unhappy. He leaves behind a large family who adored him. He spent the entirety of his life surrounded only by love.

His great grandmother shares the sentiment “You can’t always see wings on an angel.”

He was preceded in death by a grandmother, Amanda Dawn Shirey; great grandmother, Ann Turner Johnson; and great uncle, Willie Garrett, Jr.

He is survived by his adoring parents, Dakota Johnson and Dakota Garrett; grandparents: Rosanna “Nicki” Garrett, Jason Sexton, Samuel Marvin Johnson, Michael Carter, Jennifer Cole, and Starla Barnett; aunts and uncles: Allison Carter, Rebecca Johnson, Samuel Johnson, Brandon Mink, Savannah Keuhs, Donald Layne Keuhs, Madison Carter, Nevada Garrett and Bailey Bibb, and Sierra “Santa Fe” Garrett; great grandparents: James Johnson, James and Patsy Kelley, and Willie Garrett, Sr., and great aunts and uncles: Shawn Ray, Angelina Underwood, Charlie Garrett, and Alicia Johnson Cotton; cousin, Jaylin Ferguson.

A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held Friday, April 12, 2024, at 4:00 PM at Smith & Miller Funeral Home, with pastor John Redding officiating. His father will share words of love and remembrance. Interment will follow in Northview Cemetery.

As an act of love, his father, Dakota Garrett will serve as pallbearer.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Brandon Mink and Nevada Garrett.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 2:00 PM until the service hour at the funeral home.
