Eddie Wayne Mathis

Mr. Eddie Wayne Mathis, age 65, passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2025. 

Mr. Mathis was born June 3, 1960, in Rome, Georgia, son of the late Paul Mathis and Martha Hurst Mathis. 

Mr. Mathis loved any time spent outdoors, and especially enjoyed fishing and camping. No matter the occasion, Mr. Mathis always kept an upbeat demeanor. He was known for his giving nature and his unique ability to make others laugh. Above all, Mr. Mathis loved his family and left a lasting mark on their lives. 

In addition to his parents, Mr. Mathis is preceded in death by grandparents, Willie and Louise Hurst. 

Mr. Mathis is survived by his children: Derek Mathis and his wife, Shelly, Josh Mathis and his wife, Brittany, and Erica Williamson; grandchildren: Kaitlyn Crawford, Katie Mathis, Cam Mathis, Rylee Mathis, Garrett Mathis, Jud Dooley, Jack Dooley, Kylei Williamson, and Landri Williamson; great grandson, Junior Holliday; and sister, Arlette Harrell and her husband, Ronnie. 

In keeping with his wishes, Mr. Mathis will be cremated and a private inurnment will be held at a later date.
