Glenda Newsome Shadrick

November 10, 1940 — December 3, 2020

Mrs. Glenda Newsome Shadrick, age 80 of Cedartown passed away Thursday December 3, 2020.

Glenda was born November 10, 1940 in Cedartown to the late Harold Carlton Newsome and the late Pauline Strickland Newsome. She was a graduate of Cedartown High School, graduating with life-long friends in the class of 1958.

Along with her devotion to family, Glenda was a faithful servant to the Most High God. She was the epitome of the Proverbs 31 woman. Proverbs 31: 30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised. 31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.

All who knew Glenda and loved her can attest to her kind, sweet, and humble sprit. She was very family oriented and her keen memory was indeed valuable when sharing her family's history of people, places, and "happenings".

Glenda was the best of helpmates as she assisted her husband in ministry. Having moved to many different states in service to the Lord, Glenda was the best at making each new place "home" for her family.

In addition to her parents, Glenda was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Shadrick; son, Skip Shadrick and her brothers: Jimmy and Jerry Newsome.

Survivors include her children: Van Shadrick and his wife Sandy, Paula Shadrick, Glenn Shadrick and his wife Reggie; grandchildren: Brandon Shadrick, Megan Shadrick, Tabitha Lewis, Ryan Shadrick and Zachary Higginbotham; great-grandchildren: Elizabeth Raine Shadrick, Gavin Shadrick and Lucian Delgado; sister, Diana Newsome Wood and her husband Ben. Surviving also are a special aunt, uncles, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 6, 2020 at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Smith & Miller Funeral Home with Rev. George Dugger officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Cedartown.

Pallbearers will include: Ryan Shadrick, Zachary Higginbotham, Greg Wood, Chris Wood, Jeff Formby and Tony Gravett.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 6, 2020 from 2:00 PM until the service hour at the funeral home. Social distancing guidelines will be followed and masks are recommended.
