Mr. Gregory “Scottie” Merritt, age 59, of Rockmart, GA passed away Friday, April 12, 2024.
He was born in Cedartown on August 9, 1964, a son of Joseph Lucas Merritt and Nora Matthews Merritt.
Scottie was a person who lived life to the fullest. He was always willing to help anyone out with any type of project. He spent many years coaching Little League Baseball. He was an avid fisherman and loved to cook a good meal on the grill.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Lucas Merritt; mother, Nora Matthews Merritt; brothers, Ronnie Merritt, and Michael Merritt; and brother-in-law, Jerry Gurley.
Survivors include his children, Cody Merritt (Sarah) and Jade Merritt; grandchildren, Miles Merritt, Lainey Merritt, and Reagan Ward; brother and sisters: Barry Gibbs, Darlene Gurley, and Tammy Pointer (Jason); several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Smith & Miller Funeral Home. No formal services will follow the visitation. The family will have a private memorial service at a later date.
