James "Jimmy" Minge

Mr. James Bruce “Jimmy” Minge, age 79, passed away Monday, August 18, 2025.

Mr. Minge was born December 3, 1945, in Rome, Georgia, son of the late Walter Bruce Minge and Neill Morris Minge.

Mr. Minge was a dedicated member of the Caledonia Masonic Lodge # 121. One of Mr. Minge’s passions in life was riding and showing horses. He had a special love for his dog, Sassy. Mr. Minge had a successful career and was the proud owner of Minge Grading & Hauling. More than anything, Mr. Minge’s greatest accomplishment in life was his family. He dedicated his life to being a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. When asked what he would want to be remembered for Mr. Minge said, “loving my family.” He leaves a legacy of hard work, determination, and selfless love. His presence will be greatly missed in the lives of all who knew and loved him.

Mr. Minge is survived by his beloved wife, Mrs. Carlos Elaine Minge; children: Ricky Minge (Michelle), and Jeff Minge (Jill); dearly loved grandchildren: Justin Minge, Miles Minge, Maddox Minge, Morgan Price, Tayte Mullinax (Trace), Taylor Fuqua (Whitney) , Tyler Fuqua, and Braden Whooten; Great grandchildren: Hayden Fuqua, Lilly Fuqua, Brystal Fuqua, and Leanna Fuqua; siblings: Maxine Strickland, Janie Thacker, and Jackie Buttram; sister in law, Barbara Jones; and multiple nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral Services to celebrate Mr. Minge’s life will be held Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 2:00 PM, in the chapel of Smith & Miller Funeral Home, with Pastor Randy Atkins and Pastor John Redding officiating. Interment will follow in Northview Cemetery, with Masonic Rites being provided by the Caledonia Masonic Lodge # 121.

Mr. Minge’s family will receive friends also on Saturday at the funeral home, from 12:00 PM until the service hour begins.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Mike Lester, Scott Grogan, Brian Owen, Jimmy Gladden, Steve Garmon, and Bill Jones.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth “Red” Hulsey, John Tillman, and Ryan Prince.

The Smith & Miller Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mr. James Bruce “Jimmy” Minge.
