Kirk "KJ" Douglas Owens, Jr.

Kirk “KJ” Douglas Owens, Jr., age 42, passed away on Monday, July 6, 2026.

He was born on January 19, 1984, in Rome, Georgia, a son of Kirk Owens Sr. and Barbara Chandler Owens.

KJ graduated from Cedartown High School in 2002 and a member of New Harmony Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially fishing, and had a passion for the art of blacksmithing. KJ also loved playing the guitar and low-riding trucks. He will be remembered for his unique talents, his love of music and craftsmanship, and the joy he found in the things he loved most.

Mr. Owen’s is preceded in death by grandparents, Hayward and Myrtle Chandler, LA and Sandra Brazier, and Maxine Owens; uncle, Russ Owens; and brother, Stefan Nation Jr.

He is survived by his parents; children, Kenndy Owens Garner, Jonathan Owens Stone; siblings, Kathalean Little (Darly Sr.); niece, Nekole Little; nephews, Jacob Short and DJ Little; and a host of cousins, aunts, uncles, and extended family.

Funeral services to honor his life will be held Wednesday, July 15, 2026, in the chapel of Smith & Miller Funeral home, at 1:00 PM, with Rev. DeWayne New officiating.

Interment will follow in Northview Cemetery in Cedartown, Georgia.

Mr. Owen’s family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM, at Smith & Miller Funeral Home.

Gentlemen serving as pallbearers are Brent Anderson, Derek Griffin, Jacob Short, Travis Ferguson, Daryl Little, Sr., and Shane Smith
