Melissa Brown Flowers

August 14, 1965 — January 3, 2024

Melissa “Lisa” Brown Flowers, age 58, of Cedartown transitioned on Wednesday, January 3, 2024.

Lisa was born August 14, 1965, to the late William Brown and Barbara Jean Brown.

Lisa, as she was fondly called by her family and friends, was a member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church where she joyfully sang in the choir and served as a member of the church missionaries. Lisa was also a member of the “Voices of the Master.” Oh, how she loved to sing! She also loved to dance. She was always up to the challenge of a dance off with her daughter. Of course, her sisters always rooted for the “old school.”

Lisa had a heart of gold and a contagious smile. Her smile made other people happy. She was known for her famous eye roll. If she was upset with you, she would never have to say a word, you would know with just one look. Lisa didn’t meet a stranger because she loved everyone. She had a special love for her daughter and grandson. Lisa was a wonderful daughter, mother, sister, and friend to all. Her beautiful smile will truly be missed.

In addition to her father, Lisa was preceded in death by a sister, Sherry Boone and brothers, Billy Joel Flemister and Robert Pollard.

Those left to cherish Lisa’s memory are her beloved mother, Barbara Jean Brown; daughter, Matesha Tyronjy Brown; grandson, Tavarian Jackson; siblings, William Randall Brown (Wanda), Diane Brown Irvin (Wayne), Larry Lamar Brown (Chanel), Virginia Brown Beeman, and Thomasina Jenkins (Joseph); sister-in-law, Gail Flemister; bonus daughter, Amanda Sewell; and godson, Israel Penson. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

A homegoing service to celebrate her life will be held, Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at 2:00 PM, at Friendship Baptist Church, 321 Martin L King Blvd, Cedartown, Ga. 30125. Interment will follow in Northview Cemetery.

A repast meal will be held following interment at Friendship Baptist Church.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Jawon Lovelace, Ran Brown, Israel Penson, Timothy Perkins, and Charles Mcclarity.

Serving as flower girls will be Mariah Lovelace, Miah Lovelace, Temprance Brown, and Zariah Wofford.
