Mrs. Phyllis “Phyl” Elaine Meck, age 92, passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2025.
Mrs. Meck was born June 9, 1933, in Barberton, Ohio, daughter of the late Louis F. Marion and Lydia Ruth Siegwarth Marion.
Mrs. Meck was a highly intelligent woman, having graduated from Duke University with a bachelor’s degree in engineering. In 1981, she and her husband moved from Ohio for work and made Cedartown, Georgia their home. In her early years, she worked for a telephone company, but after having children, her heart was at home with them. She embraced her calling as a mother and served her family with intentional, unwavering care.
For Mrs. Meck, family was always first. She was a devoted homemaker, preparing delicious home-cooked meals for her husband and children every day. Genuinely selfless by nature, she poured her energy into caring for everyone and everything around her.
She was a devoted and loving wife to her husband, Robert Milton Meck, and together they built a beautiful life. After retirement, Mr. and Mrs. Meck enjoyed traveling and sightseeing together. In 2008, Mr. and Mrs. Meck celebrated fifty years of marriage, surrounded by family and friends. After the passing of her husband and her son, Daniel, she longed for the day she would be reunited with them.
In her later years, Mrs. Meck found joy in playing bridge, and her visits with the ladies at Cedartown First Methodist Church were often the highlight of her week.
Mrs. Meck’s life was a true example of love, devotion, and service to others. Her presence and warm, loving spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Meck is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Milton Meck; son, Daniel Robert Meck; and brothers: Richard Marion, and William A. Marion.
Mrs. Meck is survived by her daughter, Karen Elaine Meck; son, James “Jim” Richard Meck and his wife, Su; grandchildren: Amanda Gray, Benjamin Meck, Patrick Meck, and Kassidy Fann; five great-grandchildren: niece, Christine Marion Vissman and her husband, John; and nephew, Bill Marion and his wife, Linda.
