Obituary

Mrs. Rachel Caldwell Yarborough, 88, of Cedartown, Georgia, passed away on March 8, 2026.

Born on April 12, 1937, in Buchanan, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Richard Caldwell and Lena Caldwell.

Rachel was a lifetime beautician and an entrepreneur at heart, owning and operating her own beauty shop for over thirty years and leaving a lasting impact on the community she loved and served. She also owned a personal care home, a reflection of her compassionate spirit and her deep desire to care for others. Throughout her life, she ventured into several other businesses, touching the lives of many through both her work and her kindness.

Rachel found joy in life’s simple blessings. She loved sewing, singing with the Polk County Senior Citizens Choir, and had a special fondness for red birds. She took great pride in how she carried herself and was always well put together, meeting each day with grace and giving it her very best. With her fiery spirit and her love for the color red, Rachel brought warmth, strength, and personality wherever she went.

She was a member of Southview Baptist Church in Cleveland, Tennessee, and believed deeply in staying true to God’s Word. Rachel was proud of her Baptist faith and cherished the old-time traditions that shaped her beliefs and her life.

Just as strong as her spirit was the love she held for her family and friends. Her vibrant personality was matched only by her generous heart. Rachel lived her life as an example of Christian love, faith, and dedication, and the memories she created will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, Rachel was preceded in death by: her husband, Kenneth Yarborough; sisters, Joyce Vaughn, Reba Caldwell, and Ruth Williams; and brother, Rayford Caldwell.

Rachel is survived by her daughter, Tammy Winslett and son-in-law Jeff Winslett; sons Jeff Daniel and Jim Payton; grandchildren, Kaelin Winslett and his wife, Amber, and Kaci Gilham and her husband, Brandon; greatgrandchildren: Ansley Winslett, Braylee Gilham, Klaus Winslett, Karoline Winslett, and Katerina Winslett; daughter by love, Teresa Dempsey.
