Randolph "Randy" Thompson, Sr.

Mr. Randolph “Randy” Thompson, Sr., age 71, passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2025.

Mr. Thompson was born May 9, 1954, in Cedartown, Georgia, son of the late Theodore Wesson “TW” “Jabbo” Thompson and Martha Herzig Thompson.

Mr. Thompson had a fulfilling career as a detail officer for the Georgia State Department of Corrections. He was happiest outdoors—hunting, fishing, boating, or cooking on the grill. He always enjoyed riding his motorcycle and working in his garden, and he loved sharing the cucumbers, tomatoes, and peppers he grew with friends and family. He made wonderful memories drag racing with friends. Animals held a special place in his heart, especially his dogs and cat who were always by his side. More than anything, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother. His love, laughter, and kindness will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know him.

Mr. Thompson is survived by his beloved wife of thirty-seven years, Mrs. Rhonda Chapman Thompson; son, Randy Thompson, Jr.; grandson, DJ Thompson; sister, Connie Spears and her husband, Gene; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service to honor the life of Mr. Randolph “Randy” Thompson, Sr. will be held Friday, September 12, 2025, in the Chapel of Smith & Miller Funeral Home, at 2:00 PM, with Mr. Don Garmon and Reverend Robert Wright officiating.

Mr. Thompson’s family will receive friends, also on Friday at the funeral home, from 1:00 PM until the service hour begins.
