Retired Lieutenant (United States Navy) Vincent (Vince) Barry Broome, age 66, passed away Thursday, June 19, 2025.

Mr. Broome was born June 5, 1959, in Cedartown, Georgia, son of Marcelle Vincent Broome and the late Doyle D. Broome, Sr.

He is survived by his loving wife Cathy of 43 years, daughters Sara Hulsey (Kris) and Anna Holcomb (Jimmy), and three grandchildren Julian Hulsey, Zoey Holcomb and Wyatt Holcomb. He is also survived by his mother, Marcelle Broome, and His brother Doyle D. (Don) Broome Jr. (Donna), and multiple nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mr. Broome honorably served in the United States Navy from 1977 until his retirement in 1997. Throughout his distinguished twenty-year military career, he served at numerous duty stations, including assignments aboard nuclear submarines and surface warfare ships. He also bravely served during Operation Desert Storm in 1991. Mr. Broome concluded his service as the Public Affairs Officer for NATO Joint Command in Keflavik, Iceland.

Following his military retirement, Mr. Broome returned to his hometown of Cedartown, where he continued his career working for Newark Paperboard and later for Miura America Boiler Manufacturer in Rockmart. He fully retired in 2012 due to a military-related illness.

Mr. Broome was a faithful member of First Baptist Church and proudly served with the FAM Caledonia Lodge #121 of Cedartown. In his leisure time, he enjoyed reading, listening to music, and cooking, all of which brought him great joy.

His life was marked by service, dedication, and a genuine love for his family, friends, and community.

Mr. Broome will receive a Veteran’s funeral with full military honors Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at 3:00 PM in Northview Cemetery, with Mr. Bill Lundy speaking.

Mr. Broome’s family will receive friends, also on Tuesday, at Smith & Miller Funeral Home, from 1:00 PM until 2:30 PM.

The family kindly requests that flowers be omitted and memorial contributions may be made in his honor to the Hospice organization of your choice.
