Sara Galloway Pruitt

October 9, 1948 — March 10, 2021

Mrs. Sara Galloway Pruitt, age 72, of Rockmart, GA passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2021 in a Rome medical center.

She was born in Cedartown, GA on October 9, 1948 a daughter of the late Calvin Galloway and the late Myrtle Evans Galloway. Mrs. Pruitt was a graduate of Rockmart High School and later attended Coosa Valley Technical College. She was a former employee of the General Electric Company of Rome and later worked for A.T. & T. Wireless. Mrs. Pruitt was of the Baptist faith and attended Wimberly Hill Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her family especially taking trips to the mountains and the beach.

Survivors include her husband, John L. (Johnny) Pruitt to whom she was married on August 6, 1976; daughter, Angel Altschuler; step daughter, Shannon Pruitt; grandchildren: Emilee Pruitt, Dallas Altschuler and Maya Pruitt; great grandson, Greyson Pruitt; a sister, Kathy Cox and her husband Eddie; two brothers: Charles Galloway and his wife Linda and Michael Galloway and his wife Debbie. A number of nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews also survive.

A celebration of life service will be held Sunday, March 14, 2021 at 3:00 pm in the chapel of the Smith & Miller Funeral Home with her brother Michael Galloway officiating. Interment will follow in Polk Memory Gardens with Rev. Robert Wright officiating.

Active pallbearers will include: Eddie Cox, Michael Galloway, David Galloway, Jack Allen, Jonathan Allen and Andrew Tracy. Nieces and nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Sunday, March 14, 2021 from 1:00 pm until the service hour at 3:00 pm at the Smith & Miller Funeral Home. Social distancing guidelines are to be followed and masks are recommended.
