Scott Roper

Mr. Scott Kelvin Roper, 55, passed away on August 11, 2026. He was born on March 12, 1971, in Tarrant County, Texas, and was the beloved son of Melvin and Patsy Roper. 

Scott was a gentle soul with a loving heart. He had a quiet, easygoing nature, a tender spirit, and a sense of humor that could surface at just the right moment. He never cared much for the spotlight and was most comfortable simply being himself. 

Scott’s passing leaves an empty place in the lives of those who loved him. A person's life is found in so many little things—in the sound of a familiar laugh, a favorite story told for the hundredth time, a shared joke, a family memory, or simply the comfort of knowing someone has always been a part of your life. Those are the things Scott leaves behind. Those are the things his family and friends will carry with them. Those are the things that made Scott uniquely Scott. 

Those closest to Scott will remember him as the son, father, brother, grandfather, and uncle they loved. Scott's greatest blessings were his family, including his two daughters, Kayleigh and Kara, and his granddaughter, Leighton Kate. His daughters always held a special place in his heart. 

Scott was preceded in death by his grandparents, J.O. and Florine Roper and G.L. and Minnie Talley. 

He is survived by his daughters, Kayleigh Worley and her husband, Josh, and Kara Roper; his granddaughter, Leighton Kate Worley; his parents, Melvin and Patsy Roper; his brother, the Honorable Andrew B. Roper and his wife, Rena; his nephew, Jack Roper; and his niece, Ande Kate Roper. 

Scott's family will miss him deeply. They will miss the person he was, grieve the time they will no longer have with him, and hold close the memories shared. They will remember him by his gentle heart, his humor, his familiar mannerisms, and the stories that can only be told by people who have shared a lifetime together. They will remember the conversations and laughter, and all of the ordinary moments that become especially precious when someone we love is no longer with us. 

He will be remembered with love, with smiles, and with gratitude for the years and memories shared. Above all, his family will remember him as he truly was: a gentle soul with a loving heart who was deeply loved and will be deeply missed. 

Funeral services to honor Scott's life will be held Friday, August 14, 2026 at 4:00 PM in the chapel of Smith & Miller Funeral Home with Reverend Joel A. Smith officiating; and eulogy will be given by the Honorable Judge Andrew B. Roper.

Scott's family will receive friends Friday, August 14, 2026 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at Smith & Miller Funeral Home.
