Mr. Thomas Jackson Britt, Sr. “Tommy Jack”, age 81, passed away Saturday, August 22, 2026.
Mr. Britt was born in Cedartown, Georgia, November 24, 1944, son of the late Thamos Ison Britt and Mildred Teems Britt.
From a young age, Tommy Jack developed a reputation as the Goodyear Village neighborhood handyman, always willing to lend a helping hand and tackle whatever needed to be repaired. His natural ability to fix things and care for property eventually led to a passion for real estate. Over the years, he owned and maintained numerous rental properties and enjoyed a long and successful career in the local real estate market.
He was also an amateur pilot and enjoying the freedom and adventure of flying. He had a love for horses and fishing. Tommy Jack was a longtime active member of First Baptist Church and Cedartown Exchange Club, where he valued the friendships and fellowship.
One of the highlights of his daily routine was meeting each morning with his longtime friends, affectionately known as the “Krystal Critters.” Over breakfast and coffee, they enjoyed fellowship while discussing—and often believing they had solved—the issues facing their community and the world.
He also dedicated more than 50 years to caring for and maintaining Cedartown’s Springdale Lake. His many years of hard work and devotion helped preserve the beauty of the lake for everyone to enjoy.
Tommy Jack is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Rita Dingler Britt; children, Todd Britt and his wife, Diane, Melanie Baxter and her husband, Rick; grandchildren, Julie Beckman, Ashley Baxter, and Britt Baxter; great grandchildren, Maddie Jefferson and Chelsey Jefferson; and the newest member of the family his great-great granddaughter, Emmy; siblings, Kathy Corley and her husband, Mickey along with Debbie “Beb Bo” Britt; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
