Wesley Ballard

Mr. Wesley Ballard, age 77, of Cedartown, GA, passed away Wednesday afternoon, April 10, 2024, in a Rome, GA, hospital.

Mr. Ballard was born in Rockmart, GA, on October 3, 1946, son of the late Merrell L. Ballard and Rachel Simpson Ballard.  He had lived all his life in Polk County.  Mr. Ballard retired from Lockheed Martin Aeronautics where he was a supervisor of tooling.  He also worked in research and development for a period of time.  Mr. Ballard loved the beach, fishing, playing cards and sitting on the porch swing.  He was also ready at a moment’s notice to go to the grocery store.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Ballard was preceded in death by his wife, Kimberly Slaughter Ballard, and a brother, Robin Ballard.

Mr. Ballard is survived by his children, Stephen Wesley (Carmen) Ballard, Janice Marie Ballard, LaBriska Nicole (Matthew) Waddell, and Rachel Lynn (David) Spurlock; grandchildren, Patrick Ballard, Aaron Adams, Courtney Morrow, Heather Dunn, Harleigh Waddell, Ashely Waddell, and Sterling Spurlock.  A brother, Tommy Ballard, also survives.

Funeral services to celebrate his life will be held Thursday, April 18, 2024, in the chapel of the Smith & Miller Funeral Home, at 3:00 PM, with Reverend Michael Edwards and Reverend Chris Hall officiating. Interment will follow in Northview Cemetery. 

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Matthew Waddell, David Spurlock, Patrick Ballard, Daniel Ballard, Ralph Ingrim, Gary Gibson, Chris Davis, and Kameran Davis. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Thomas and Doug Bennett. 

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, April 17, 2024, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at Smith & Miller Funeral Home.
