William Jackson “Jack” Prewett, 85, of Cedartown was born on June 16, 1939, and passed away on June 15, 2025.
He was born in Cedartown, Georgia, son of the late Thomas Franklin Prewett and Irene Kuglar Prewett.
After growing up on the family farm, Jack entered into the United States Navy and after faithfully serving, he returned home to Cedartown. Jack was proud to be a founding member of Blooming Grove Volunteer Fire Department. He was proud of his time he spent helping with Future Farmers of America, showing cattle and spending time bowling. He retired after 34 years in the maintenance department at a GEO Specialty Chemical Company in Cedartown, all while continuing to maintain the family farm. Above all, his family was his greatest pride. He leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and hard work.
In addition to his parents, He was preceded in death by his brother, Albert Prewett and sister, Elizabeth Ann Prewett Garmon.
Mr. Prewett is survived by his beloved wife of almost 58 years, Sandra Jenkins Prewett; daughter, Ronda Rush and her husband, Steve; son, Randy Prewett and his wife, Elisa; grandchildren, Emily Prewett, Tyler Prewett (Lacey), Jacob Rush, Logan Rush(Melissa), and Rachael McElheney(Ryan); great grandchildren, Ellie and Peyton McElheney. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services to honor his life will be held Tuesday, June 17,2025 at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Smith & Miller Funeral Home with Reverend Roger Kiser and Reverend Joe Bates officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot at Pine Bower Baptist Church Cemetery with full military honors provided by Rockmart American Legion Brown-Wright Post 12.
Mr. Prewett’s family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 17, from 2:00 PM until the service hour.
The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers: Randy Prewett, Steve Rush, Jacob Rush,Tyler Prewett, Logan Rush, Ryan McElheney, Regan Young, and Tommy Barnes.
